‘We could not be happier!’ Country stars Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer announce engagement

Country stars Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer are engaged.

Gilbert popped the question to his other half – who is also known for her role as Alex Dupri in a three-year stint on One Tree Hill – on his birthday on Sunday.

The star turned 28 when his partner of roughly one year said, ‘Yes!’ according to People magazine.

Gilbert rented out the site of the former Grand Ole Opry stage, where country couple Johnny Cash and June Carter met, for the day.

In a statement, they said: ‘We could not be happier! We are so excited to share this special time with our loved ones and cannot wait to start the rest of our lives together.’

Kramer, 29 – who will tour with Blake Shelton this summer – added: ‘I was so surprised! He asked my mom for permission before he proposed, which meant a lot to me.’

It isn’t the only good news Kramer’s family has received recently.

Only the day before she shared the news on Twitter that her sibling is set to tie the knot.

She posted on the micro-blogging website: ‘My brother is engaged!!!!!! Congrats Steve and @nrs115 !!!! I am so thrilled to have a sister!!!!!! Everyone wish them love!!!!!’

The couple are both nominated in the best new vocalist categories at this year’s Academy of Country Music awards.

So far Kramer has received celebrity support in the form of Modern Family’s Lucy Hale who asked her more than 2 million Twitter followers to vote for the star.

Kramer replied, ‘Thanks love,’ to Hale’s tweet alongside a link to the voting page saying, ‘Everyone go here and vote for my girl.’

2012 CMT Music Awards - Wonderwall.com.com Portrait Studio

1) All In The Family: Rascal Flatts have a couple of interesting family connections. Gary LeVox and Jay Demarcus are second cousins, and country singer James Otto is Jay DeMarcus’ brother-in-law.

2) Heading To Nashville – Jay DeMarcus went to Nashville to work as a back-up vocalist for Michael English’s gospel album and brought Gary LeVox down to join him in the recording.

3) In Comes Joe Don – Jay DeMarcus became the band leader for Chely Wright and Joe Don Rooney was the guitarst for the band. That’s how they met.

4) And Then They Were A Trio – Jay Demarcus and Gary LeVox were working at a night club in Nashville and when their guitarist wasn’t available one night, they asked Joe Don Rooney to sit it for him.

5) Rascal Flatts The Name – The crowd loved the three of them together and asked their name. They said they didn’t have one and a man in the crowd said he had a garage band named “Rascal Flatts” and it stuck!

6) Making It Official – The band went into do a demo with Lyric Street Records and just blew them away with the harmonies and vocals. They signed the band Rascal Flatts in 1999.

7) The First Single:Prayin’ For Daylight was one of the songs that they had featured on their 3 song demo, which resulted in Lyric Street signing them originally. It was featured on their self-titled debut album.

8) Partial Nudity Controversy – “I Melt” from their “Melt” album had a split second scene in the video where Jay DeMarcus’ back half is flashed as he’s standing up to put a towel around him. It was enough to get the video banned from GAC.

9)Their Number Ones: They’ve had 12 #1 sincles and their cover of Marcus Hummon’s “Bless the Broken Road” lasted the longest with 5 weeks on top.

10) They Cross-Over: Their song “What Hurts the Most” hit the top of both the country and adult contemporary charts and went all the way #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

BATTLE CREEK, MI — They sell out arenas — everywhere.

And now the guys in Rascal Flatts can say they also christen new venues — all with their signature big hits, big laughs and big fun!

The country music supergroup was the first act to perform at the new Event Center at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel as part of an expansion that also includes an eight-floor, 242-room hotel alongside the 3-year-old casino located right off I-94.

When it was announced in mid November the award-winning and multi-platinum country music trio would be the first act to play the intimate, 2,000-seat venue, fans were excited to see their favorite band in such a small room.

Let’s say this: You could not have asked for a better act to test the space, a narrow, 17,000-square-foot room with chair seating and some stadium seating at the back.

Lead singer Gary LeVox, guitarist/vocalist Joe Don Rooney and bassist/vocalist Jay DeMarcus played all the major hits (“Broken Road,” “Summer Nights,” “Me & My Gang”), took requests from the audience (“Mayberry,” “My Wish,” “Stand”) and even managed to win over Michigan football fans despite being from Columbus, Ohio.

That could be the night’s biggest success story!
